First OBMC
Yeah... Finally we had our first lesson, OBMC (Opera basic movement class). The teacher, Xu jia li, was not bad i think. However, our organiser, does not agree with me She thinks that JiaLi is a bit too new and too young and she has got no experience in teaching. Jia li is only 23, same age as me.
I think age is not a problem. If she has the skills, i don't mind if she is young. Moreover, trained actress like her can accomplish alot by 23 years old. For the experience part, everyone has got his/her first time. As long as she tries her best, i think it should be fine. She might take some time to think how to explain some stuff but that's fine with me.
My organiser kept bombarding questions at her!
"What is the purpose of doing this?"
"Why must we look that way?"
Although Jia li took some time to think of how to explain, she still gave us satisfactory answers. However, she does charge abit too high for a 1 and 1/2 hr teaching. Hmm.. but that is a commercial secret.. shhh..
Yesterday our lesson was divided into a few portions.
1) Legs
2) Hands
3) sleeve
4) Eyes
For the legs part, we did the usual walking stuff. For the hands part, she taught us how to position them. For the sleeve part, she teach us how to throw out our water sleeve and retract them in perfect angle. For the eyes part, she taught us how to focus our eyes. I like the eyes part training. She tried to teach us how to achieve the piercing eyes effect. Yeah.. i am going to practice it everyday to achieve it!
