Me, Myself & Opera

I know I have written a few times before about kiddy opera but they are just soooooooo cute i can't resist to write again. This time, i got lots and lots of photos to share. I have been watching some YueJu lately and as most of you know, YueJu's xiao shengs are done by female so they look super stylo malo. Ge zai xi's xiao shengs are done by females too but GZX ones lack the kind of 秀气 look. So far I hadn't really seen any GZX sheng with this kind of feel and elegance. Hahaha... but there is one from Kunqu, Shi Xiao Mei. She got that kind of 秀气 and elegance too! Some photos of the shengs I like. Yesterday, I suddenly felt like doing a sheng role. Hahah.. They look so cool and stylo malo that I want to try it too. I will be stylo malo too! I want to be a wen sheng, a feng du pian pian, yu shu ling feng scholar. I wouldn't want to be a wu sheng cuz wusheng are not feng du pian pian enough. :P I told my mum about my idea and she laugh. She said I look like a kid when I dress like a sheng, or I look like a dan in disguise. -_-" I can be feng du pian pian also ok! I told my mum if there is any charity show coming up, I want to be sheng and ...

Before our performance on 24 Dec, we had a final rehearsal on 23 Dec at the Tampines East CC. I finished work at 6pm so i had to rush down and reach there by 7pm. By the time I finished putting on the costume, it's time for me to go on stage. Our rehearsal went on smoothly except for my mum was unable to change for her costume in time for one of the scene. Yeah.. i took some short videos and photos with my trusty D500. Ang being beaten by Susan and Wanxin. I think their roles looked fun and i wouldn't mind taking their places in this scene when they are absent! hee hee... Tian and ying ying, our femal lead. Tian looks cute as the 'Cheng Qian Sui' but she felt very stress whenever she do this role cuz she can't say out her lines properly. My mum... is the one in the middle.... :D Ang faking death.. Chinese opera is so beautiful.. I want to cry! It is the most beautiful thing on earth.... It makes my heart flutters and filled my stomach with butterflies. It makes my skin tingle, and send goosebumps all over me.... Muacks! I love you!

YES! My VCDs arrived! Muacks! I am so ultimate happy! Because the VCDs I received this time are those that I have always wanted to buy very much. So yuppie! The first one i unwrapped immediately was the 'China's Little plum showcase'. It is a box of 12 VCDs featuring kids doing opera. There are many kind of operas, Pu Ju, Yu Ju, Jing Ju, Yue Ju and even kunqu. Unfortunately, much to my disappointment, the Kunqu kids didnt do well... except for one little boy. Well well.. But I do see some very very nice clips and some kids are so tiny that they look like dolls on stage. Seriously, I think they look like puppets.. :D The above is not the dolly girl, she is another older girl, doing Yu Ju too. Compared to the dolly girl, i think she did much better. She sang very very well and you felt pity for her. Her singing gave me goosebumps.. I don't know why. I think she is around 9 years old. This girl is scary. Yesterday afternoon, I was feeling drowsy in the office and I almost dozed off when suddenly my phone rang. It startled me. A deep voice said,"Are you free tonight?" I replied,"Depends on what is it. Tonight I will maybe go watch puppet show." Deep voice said," Tonight come COI to take photos for Nie Xiao Qian. You are female pig leg, so you must come." I replied," Sure or not?! I didn't bring anything, I am not even wearing contact lenses." Deep voice said,"I confirm again with you later." Haiz.. actually the deep voice is Richard la. I try to act mysterious only. Anyway, Richard called back in an hour's time and confirmed that there is phototaking! I wasn't prepared, I didn't bring anything and if I were to go home to pack the stuff, I will reach COI late. So the best idea was to sought help from my mother, I told her what I needed and ask her to bring to COI. Poor mum, so much things to bring! Gotta treat her a big me...

I went to watch Hokkien Street Opera again at Paya Lebar. It's Xin Sai Feng. My mum like this troupe alot but i think they are so so only. Anyway, I went to see it because no one is at home and it's kinda boring to stay alone at home. This was the first picture i took. Actually, their performance was very normal lor. Something ridiculous happened before the show starts. My mum was not here yet so i waited for her. There were many chairs lying around so I just picked a chair far from the crowd and sat alone there. After 10 minutes, this auntie came to me and told me that the chair I was sitting on and the chairs around my chair are her seats. She 'booked' the seats already. Wah liew.. damn ridiculous ok. This is a free show and this is a temple. The chair didn't have her name written on it but she claimed that its her chair. What utter rubbish. Anyway she is an old auntie so i just gave her the damn chair and sit somewhere else. I still think that it is ridiculou...
