Me, Myself & Opera

Oh my god! I found this online and it's so nice!!! It's the new version of Peach Blossom Fan in Kunqu which I have no chance to see. SADDENING! But I know that they are staging this since quite long ago. Till now, I never see got any VCD selling. Should go check on Bras Basah le.... This new version of Peach Blossom Fan was done by Jiang Su Kunqu troupe. Kunqu is just so beautiful. The beautiful, slow and smooth melody touches my heart and melted it like ice-cream in the sun. Hahah, what a description! I can't find any words to describe the feeling of how I love kunqu. It's just so delicate. It's like an ancient vase or a piece of tofu. So delicate and so fragile, like it's gonna fall apart if you touch it. The dans of kunqu always, ALWAYS, give me a 吹彈可破 feeling. It's as if their made of paper. I never felt like this for other opera types like jingju, gezaixi or yueju etc. They felt very 'strong', erm, think of sun cui feng as dan, lol, joking. Some...

I was browsing the internet looking at opera related videos when I came across a song 'N+1' sang by Chris Lee. Man, I was surprised by the opera elements in the song! She combined hip hop and chinese opera (like Jay and Lee Hom) and the MTV is quite nice. It's like abit of hip hop dance and some chinese opera. Chris Lee even dressed up in opera 'wu dan' costume! Hee hee, but she looked a bit weird. Her actions are good but looks wise, weird. Ok, the MTV. I should learn to sing this song. Lol...

I found this nice clip from AC de blog. It's Zeng Jing Ping singing an excerpt of 'Mr dong and Ms Lee'. I think that she is really very good! I love the expressions and the gestures she made. Moreover, i think she really look good in this clip. I wish I can be like her! Normally, Liyuanxi is performed using some traditional chinese instruments but this performance was different because they used a symphony orchestra instead. I think it's a refreshing change. Cake+tea, you must see this~ It's a nice production of 梨园戏。I have told you much about liyuanxi but I think you haven't really seen it.

Super sian. I think I have stopped acting for the past 6 months. No performance, very boring. Haiz. Went for meeting at SL to discuss the big plans for 2009. Our opera performance, Gao Wen Ju, will be on 07 Mar 09 at the Esplanade. Please come support ok. Then on 15 Mar, we will repeating this show at the temple Thian Hock Keng. On 18 Apr, there will be a Liyuanxi talk in SL open for the public. Interested in some facts and history of Liyuan opera? Please come to SL on that day. Then we have another Nanyin Performance on 16 Aug 09 also at the Esplanade. Though I don't really perform Nanyin well, I will still be helping out. There are some other performances but they are mostly nanyin performances. Haiz. I kind of miss performing leh.. If I continue like this, I will rust. Fortunately, we still got lessons so I am still practicing my watersleeves and spears etc.

I went to Naiba de stretching class on Wednesday night. Yes de, Naiba now got stretching class conducted at Tampines every Wednesday night and we went there to do our stretching and practice some basic opera stuff. The people there were actually having fun doing a lot of nonsense stuff and laughing their heads off when they did something stupid. YH has been disappearing from the surface of earth since 1 month ago. She didn't go to COI and she always fly me aeroplane when she asks me to go out. Anyway I am so used to it that I won't even put her appointment with me at heart. Unless she confirmed with me until VERY the confirm then I will go meet her. I met her at Tampines Mall on Wednesday night and we went for Mos burger. She looks like she is half dead already. I was asking her when she will be going Taiwan cuz I need her to bring back some gu dings. Her reply was rather shocking. "Why would I want to go? It's such a lousy place!", she said very loudly. Day 2 at Xiao Yu Long, I only went for 2 days. Wahaha. They did 'Ghost Peony', a story I never heard of. My mum acted as a sick man who died after getting married. Wah, yz doing Xiaosheng wor!!!! Hahah dua ban one some more!!! And Bee lay was there. We chatted for a long long time! Naiba and qian yun, I like the costume!~ Nai ba ba and bee lay.... hahaha, my mother acting as an extra in this costume. Oh my god!!! Who is this! Ah tian leh. Omg! Who is this?? Can't even see her face lor.. and Bee Lay seems so in love with this person! Hee hee, can't guess who? It's ah ni lor. I like this photo, it's funny, my mum and ah tian there making funny faces. I realised that I don't have photos of me and bee lay. I think it's in her camera. Awww, too bad. We took quite a few photos. Also, no photos of mung mung this time because I went there directly after work so mung mung wasn't there....

I went to Xiao Yu Long to support naiba on last sat. He acted 5 days there but I went only 2 days. Lol. Naiba understands I am very busy one but I think he also very happy that I went lor. He dote one me so much mah! Hahahaa.. Naiba and me... and mung mung also. He lost weight liao and he was very happy about it. Naiba and the 4 soldiers... Wang Chao Ma Han! Aiyoh, I wonder what mung mung prays for... maybe for more bananas? Or to be able to eat one day? ( his mouth cannot open so he cannot eat...)

Xiamen Gaojia troupe is coming to perform on this 12 Nov~ I am going to see it and thanks to COI, they gave me free tickets so I can save money. Recession is coming, must save! I will be watching the 12 Nov show, Meng Li Jun. Gao Jia opera is actually not bad especially for their clownish roles. Unfortunately, I don't think I can get to see alot of clownish roles in Meng Li Jun. Too bad. Don't miss it if you like hokkien opera!
