Me, Myself & Opera

I just remembered that no one will blog about this shangri-la show as both MD and YH were not there. Hahaha.. Well, we acted Tang Bo Hu's first few scenes at Shangri-la hotel and as HXY was not in Singapore, we had a hard time looking for a sheng. Our troupe has got more shengs than dans but i dunno why the hell we can't find a sheng at a critical moment like this. Strange. All our shengs disappeared at the same time so in the end, our Tang Bo Hu is..... Cai Bi Xia! My god.. It was the first time I acted with CBX and as you can see.. she look very different from us. But do we have a choice? no. cuz we got no shengs available and CBX volunteered to cross over. Well.. anything la. Close one eye. And you know what? I just realised that I didn't take alot of photos. Sianz.. I tot I did took some photos but actually only about 6 photos. Aiyah.. should take more pics of the other ppl. Anyway, Xin en and Richard took alot of photos. Crossover performances from various opera actors and actresses. Heard that every chinese new year celebration they will hold a crossover performance for opera. Nice idea. I just bought the DVD and thought it was kinda interesting. Gonna share with u guys but since it is a DVD, I can only record it using my digi cam again. hahaha. .very blur leh the image but dun hiam.. cuz it is very troublesome to record also. Must appreciate my effort.. hahaha These are some actresses from other opera types singing yueju. The first one as you can tell I think is Shi Min. She is a famous Pekin opera actress. The second one was a new kunqu actress. I think she is pretty and she got potential. The third one is a hu ju actress. Pretty also. I love her dimple! With regards to whether they sing well or not, I can't comment. Cuz I not expert in Yueju. Then 2 yuejue actresses decided to crossover to do HuaiJu. I prefer the way xiao ya sing huaiju than yueju leh. Her huai ju singing got less 'bi yin...

All opera activities came to a halt. All of the troupe's member are now busying with their own stuff. YH is busy studying, May is busy with dunno wat, shopping maybe, I nothing to busy, Xin en busy enjoying holidays, my mum busy being housewife. So now that there is no opera activities, there will be no photos, no silly rehearsal complaints and kp. Well, it also means that I got nothing to blog! hahaha.. oh no. I will be blogging some other opera stuff like some DVDs I bought etc soon. And I guess I will be blogging more on Mikolah liao since there isn't much opera stuff to blog on.

I dunno why this show is called Han Guo Hua when the story revolves around Lian Li, the female lead. Han Guo Hua this character only appear in half the show. This is very sexist lor. The show should rename as Lian Li. Dunno u all got see this show before. Its about this old man who can't get a son. He finally decided to marry another woman to have a son but the wife objected. The wife eventually cooked up a plan to make her maid, Lian Li, give birth to a son for her husband but chase her out of the house after she did so. Lian Li was acted by Zheng Ya Si in the beginning part and Zeng Jing Ping at the later part. Here's a clip of ZJP, she is a very good singer oh.. Mei er told me that only ZJP sing well in the troupe. erm.. I cant comment about that la.

Yday, I finally did the Yi Chun Liu San. I din flop badly la though there were hiccups. It didn't flop as badly as Maha. I was not very natural as I still think about my lines and my movement when on stage. If I really want to do well, the lines and movements should just flow out naturally. So far I think my Lian Hua Lao is the smoothest show. Maybe cuz I have acted that show many times, dun need to think about lines and movements. My fren, James, can to take photos for me~ Thanks James! His photos were well taken! But the fringe of my wig too long. It touches my eyes. I wanted to bring it to salon for hair cut but hor.. no time leh. Somemore at the performance venue dun have hair dryer, can't blow up my fringe. Haiz.. nvm la. The story begins.... in singlish Yi chun: Sa go.. Where are you going? Chen San: I want to go home. YC: What?! You want to go home? Did you tell missy? CS: Tell her for what? YC: Dun tell her also never mind but xiao mei treat you so good day and night.. ...

Went rehearsing at SL again together. Stress.. Act liyuanxi very stress lor cuz there are alot of things to be careful of. Unlike gzx, can hum.. as long as dun sing off tune, movements smooth.. can already. In LYX, uncle keep asking me to speak in a higher pitch. Speaking in a high pitch is more difficult than singing in a high pitch lor. Have to take note of the pitch at the same time must take care of the tone of my lines. Must be lively.. tian zhen, cute etc.. When walking, steps must be smaller and faster than 5 niang. Still must take care of the movements cuz all the movements are fixed, cannot anyhow create my own movements. Here are clips of Biyu and Uncle practicing the Wuniang role in 'xiu gu luan' excerpt. I like liyuanxi partly becuz of the drums. Just like the 'ya jiao gu' so much. The drumbeats just bring up the atmosphere so well and when it merged with liyuan kebu, the match is heavenly~ Liyuan kebu plus ya jiao gu.. so nice. Tomorrow will be a break for ...

Aiyah, i got no photos to share leh. That day during performance my mood was rather bad cuz I had an argument with someone. Dun wanna say who it was la but the point is, i super no mood. Even tho no mood I still must act properly. I think my performance that day was acceptable but too bad my mic no sound, only those in the first few rows can hear me and that is ah suan. Ah suan said that she could hear me and felt that I did better during the performance than during the rehearsals. Some consolation. LJ also gave me some comments but CS never. Next time see him must ask him for comments. About all those stupid boliao mega sian kok ups, please refer to yh's blog. I shall not repeat. Else ppl will complain my blog boring. ok la. The show was confusing, that's the feedback i got and someone mistaken May as me. Come on lor, we look so alike meh?? Some other audience even asked if she is my sister. Erm.. elder or younger sis? Guan Yin Dan coming again. So fast. I blogged before that we are going to act Su Qin right but due to time constraint, we decided to do Chen San Wu Niang as we are more familiar with that. We will be acting out the following excerpts. 1) Di Deng (partial of the yuan xiao scene) 2) Shang hua (the garden scene) 3) Liu San (partial) 4) Xiu Gu Luan (the dating scene) 5) Si ben (eloping) Very messy lor, there will be changes in the actors for these few scenes. For example, the role of ya chun will be done by 3 person. The reason being, some ppl are more familiar with some scenes. As for me, I am not very familiar with all the scenes but I was given to do liu san because they want to give me a chance to practice and gain experience. They can exclude me for this show actually as susan can do liu san also. Wu niang will be done by 2 person, Biyu and Ru wang, but Biyu will be doing 2 roles, wuniang for Siben and Xiu gu luan and Ya chun for shang hua. Very luan one lor. hahahaha.. Fortunately, ...
