Me, Myself & Opera

My dearest Nai ba (my godfather) performed at CCK last week so most of my troupe members went to support him. He has been a good naiba, dotes on me alot, so I will of course support him too. Naiba in process of making up.... Aiyoh.. naiba got a tummy! Must flatten it lor.. Xiaosheng cannot have tummy ok? Nvm, ask kanglong help you get rid of the tummy. Just wanna put up a photo of my new hair pcs. I bought them somewhere in Nov last year but I didn't have the chance to collect them. All thanks to Kanglong as he managed to ask a friend to collect them for me. They are really very pretty lor~ Tian and the rest agreed with me that they are pretty too.. I shall use it for next week's performance!

I performed 'Yi Chun Liu San' with Susan on 22 Mar. At first we wanted Tian to act as Chen San but Tian wasn't able to make it for the show. She got to work that day but she came to watch us and support us lor. Kanglong was there too. He helped me to take some photos when we were performing. I bought this set of costume in GZ lor. It was cheap. I think the whole set was about $40-$50. This set of blue hair pieces I bought a very long time ago got no chance to go on stage yet. This was the first time I am using them. Maybe cuz I recently didn't get to wear blue costumes ba.. :) Notice that I was not wearing earrings. Shit lor. I forgot to bring them. Ang said before that a dan without earrings is a like a dan without a head. Haiz.. it means I got no head lor. Hahaha. Me and Kanglong. I have to stand behind lor. Else I will look super super fat! I just recieved some photos from Li's camera so I thought I might blog some up for your guys to see. For your information, Li is currently acknowledging Xin En as his daughter. He missed his daughter in his hometown and Xin En happened to be the same age as her so he asked Xin En to call him 'lao ba'. Hahahah... This was taken in Iran. Just wanted to show you guys Iranian woman and Iranian kids. Actually I think Iranians have got beautiful eyes. Me, Li and YH. I think YH looked good in this photo so I blogged it up~ Our family photo. Jiang Da ( the on the furthest left) is a new family member. He didn't really know what to do during those 'wen' scenes as he was invited to do the fighting parts. Again, more photos of Li and Iranian people. I think Li really likes to take photos with the locals because there are lots of photos of the locals in his camera.

Our performance on 08.03.08, 38 women's day. Haiz, I got some photos in my camera which I haven't load into the PC yet so I will blog the photos which I took on my hp first. The majority of the other actresses's photos are in my camera so sorry, I will be blogging my face first! Shit lor, that day I got sore eyes. VERY VERY VERY PAIN! It was eye infection and I keep on having tears on my left eye. At the end of the show it was so RED that my eye looked like it was bleeding. Everyone was shocked to see my super red eye. And I think my eyes looked one big one small on stage. Haiz.. I didn't intend to wear contact lens that day because my eye hurts alot when I do. So I did my make up without the contacts. However, later on when I was arranging hair pieces, I cannot see my hair pieces properly and cannot guage the angle etc. Moreover the hair pieces keep pricking my fingers. Very painful. I think I should retire from opera soon lor. Been feeling very low and demoralised lately. Seems like I am not improving and I am just stuck there. After a performance, I always feel very lousy about the show. It has been a very long time since I felt satisfactory over my performance. Maybe my standard dropped, maybe I am 'deproving' or maybe it's time for me to die. Haiz, I don't know what is wrong but the COI performances I did just sucks to the core. I mean how much suckier can I get? I cannot act properly, cannot sing properly and I look fat! Lots of people in my troupe are thinking about quitting too. Maybe they felt the same as me. Demoralising. I don't know if it's due to the lack of rehearsals or I am just tired. Or maybe I am just plain lousy. I know I am lousy lor, I tried to do better but I can't. Apparently I am just stuck there. Haiz.. My performance schedule: 26 Mar - Guan Yin Dan 29 Mar - Yueju ( I wonder if it's still on. No news yet) 20 ...

On 11.02.08 was our performance day.. Let's see, I got some photos to show you guys~ Our male lead, Ang~ The ying jun xiao sa prince. Nizar and Bala.. Bala look like ghost! eeek...! The one beside is Nizar who was acting as the bird. We all thought that he looks like Gallen Loh, Luo Jia Liang. Really! Qiuyue is being very arousing in this pose. In Iran, anything arousing must be hidden! So QY! You cannot pose such an arousing pose lor! Ppl there will catch you and put you in jail lor!!! Demon king has caught our soldier! This soldier is a malay lor. Not bad right? Looked steady. What is bala doing behind?? Stoning lor! Me, Li Lao Shi and YH. YH only put on her wig and guan on 2nd day. 1st day she totally heck lor. I am so damn busy nowadays. I dunno what I am busy with but I don't even have enough time to sleep. Let's see... I got performance on 08.03.08 and 09.03.08. I am preparing the script and co-ordinating for the 20.04.08 performance. I am going to rehearse for 26.03.08 performance starting this week. We will be peforming the Doctor show again on 08Mar. I don't understand why we are doing this show again. We just did it last year in June and repeating this performance again will not bring in enough audience lor. Madness. So now we are having difficulties to sell off the tickets and stupid COI is not doing much to publicise the show. Ang panicked so she asked us to sell the tickets. Haiz, I don't have any friends who are interested to watch opera. I don't want to force anybody who is not interested to watch. Anyway, 2 of my friends already came to support me when I performed this show at Drama Centre last year.. Ok, enough of grumbling. This performance, I am exchanging roles with May. So now I am acting as the dumb missy while May is acting as Bird Nest. The reason why I want to exchange roles is because I am really tired after the Iran trip.
