Me, Myself & Opera

On Sunday and yesterday, I went COI to practice my sabre wielding skills. I am not a fighter as far as I can remember, the only time I fought on stage was during that Indian festival thingy where we just fight without a plot. This time it's different and we are acting as soldiers in Han Dan Ji, yueju, which we will perform in Indonesia. Han Dan Ji is quite a famous story but it's not really a popular tale for the southern opera forms. By the way, we, the GZX class, is going to learn Han Dan Ji and perform it in Nov too. So after 2 days of practicing, we were forced to remember the WHOLE thing in our brains. It has been a long time since I felt myself forcing to remember something. Normally I will just remember the lines or movements as the practice move along but this time, I was forced to remember the whole thing by the 2nd practice. I have 2 fighting sequence. Last month, KL has been asking my if I want to see 韓熙载夜宴图 on 13 Sep. Since it's a day after my birthday, it will be sort of like a birthday outing. However, I think that the tickets are quite expensive ($55) I told him that I don't want to see it cuz we need to save money. He agreed, we need to save money for traveling. On Friday afternoon, I received a sms from Uncle Lim asking me if I want to see this show. It will be SL's treat. Gladly, I accepted it~ Hee hee, in the end I still get to see it. Good good. I was surprised that this performance is held in the theatre, as in the large theatre. The 3rd and 4th floor circle seats were not opened but the first and 2nd floor were full. We were rather surprised that there are so many people watching this. The dancing and the movements were very well done but I think the small movements and the simplicity of everything makes the stage looked rather empty. I was informed a few days ago that our performance at Esplanade is confirmed. We will be doing the show 'Gao Wen Ju', Liyuanxi. I don't know if you have heard of it before but it's quite a popular show for liyuanxi. The show will be up on March next year. Ya, still a long way to go but time flies. We need ample time to prepare for this show too. Can't disappoint the audience! I hope they will make some new costumes. Lol.. I heard that they have got the script already. I can't wait to see the script!

I went to watch KL's troupe performance last week and I coincidentally met Chua there. I guess he is always there when there is some kind of cultural performance. He came over and told me that he is going to send me to Indonesia to perform. Indonesia again? He asked me if I will be free at the end of October. I told him I should be ok with that. He told me that it's a yueju performance, I probably need to learn yueju a bit. The teacher will be Shui Xiao Yan. I was happy to know that because I think Shui is a good teacher and therefore, I agreed to go. He also told me that I might need to perform a short gzx with Ang over there. Anyway, it's not confirmed yet I think because Ang is not around. I will see what she says when she comes back. Another thing is, recently I have been quite suay. My previous 2 charity show 1 kana canceled and the other kana postponed. Hai.. I think these few weeks I got no fate to perform. Bala just called up to inform me that he got a show on 14 Oc...
