Me, Myself & Opera

On 22 Sep, we went to Kreta Ayer to help out on a Canto opera performance where we acted as fairies. We were supposed to dance for 'Meng Hui Tai Hu' and initially, our teacher designed alot of movements for us. Unfortunately, the other aunties whom I don't know cannot remember the dance steps and they keep doing the wrong things. So in the end, our dance was cut short and simplified till it cannot be simpler. Hahaha... Oh well.. that is fine for me. I just want to have fun. Can you imagine 7 of us in Canto make up?? Me, my mum, May, BaoHua, Qiuyue, Zhenxuan, Xiao Liqin. Look at me! When I was doing make up, the make up artiste kept telling me my face is very suitable for opera make up and that I have guzhuang face and my ban xiang will be qing xiu. Some time ago, I saw this Jiang Zhou Drum documentry on NGC. They introduced this special form of art of drums playing. A row of 6-10 girls standing will play the drums together with amazing choreography. Like Chinese Opera, these drum artistes went under strict training since young. Normally Jiang Zhou Gu is performed by young girls but I dont know why I am seeing some guys playing it too. It's hard to find videos on jiang zhou gu but I managed to find one~ Nice eh?

A newspaper cutting from last week's Zaobao. It's about the Li Ya Xian's show we did. The response is so good that many people request us to act Li Ya Xian's excerpts on lang jun dan but too bad, I already promised to help out on the cantonese opera show. The Esplanade in charge was at our 'wei lao hui' last week and she told us that we must get some proper studio photos taken and some proper advertising materials for this show. We can then send these to some overseas theatres to request performance there. SL's Director told me that I have improved lots since the first time I join SL. I remember the first show I acted in SL was the excerpt Lian Hua Lao from Li Ya Xian too. After that I did this excerpt a few more times. Sl's director said that I have progressed everytime I act this show. I think this is 'cheng ming zuo' already.. hahaha... So happy lor.. In comparison, COI's director seldom speak to me tho.. The newspaper clipping... hee hee....

I am going to stop blogging for awhile the reason simply being I am too sian to blog. No mood to blog, nothing to blog. Moreover, I think no one will be interested to read my so-sian entries. No one will read my boring blog so no point to continue writing nonsense. Seriously, I dunno who have been reading the nonsense I wrote. Sometimes it was surprising to know that some friends who I never thought will read my blog has been visiting it and sometimes ppl whom I thought were visiting my blog were not doing it anymore. I don't know when I will be back to update my blog, maybe a few weeks or maybe a few months.

Xin En just sent me some more photos of the show. Just to show you guys lor since I have such a boring life and nothing exciting is going on. Haiz.. Life sucks.. Unfortunately, most are my photos that she sent la. Xin en will take photo of me any time shw want lor.. this was taken when I was eating dinner. When I was taking photos of myself.... Still taking photos of myself. Smsing during break time she also got take lor.. hahaha I was sleeping before the night show.. Tired like hell and I really fell into deep sleep. Then this susan disturb me lor.. wah lau.. make me take photo. So ugly lor but heck.. I was very sleepy that time. At around 15-20 min before the show then I woke up and need to faster freshen up before performing.. Tired like hellz. This photo very funny lor, it was taken during half time and I think Uncle was very very stress so he started talking nonsense to relax. Susan was saying uncle too stress must ki siao for awhile. Finally going to blog this after so many days. As I said, I got no mood to blog.. I was glad that all the audience's feedbacks were good. They really liked the show. NAC, Esplanade and MDA were happy with it. Biyu called me today and asked me how were the feedbacks and told me about the opinions of the above authorities. The show has exceeded their expectations. Esplanade told Biyu that we can start preparing for another show. Think Biyu can't take it liao lor. She already got so stressed out over this performance I think she needs a break. However, she said that since the audience liked it, we will continue to develop and improve this show. Meanwhile, she will get someone to design new costumes to improve the overal standard. Good to hear that. Both of us felt that the lousiest part of the whole show was the costumes.
