Me, Myself & Opera

Last week my mum told me this when I got home from class. "Susan asked if you can do a charity show on Monday." "Eah, now can do show meh? You want to do then do lor." "..... So you want to do or not?" "You want to do then do lah. I got leave to clear anyway." I think she also wanted to do, she already think of the show she wants to act and everything. So I told her to tell Susan ok and let us know the time and place. All was well, and we practiced and everything these two days. This afternoon I repacked my wigs and buns box, took out stuff that I wanna use. We ironed the costumes etc. Later we went for dinner (very nice dinner by the way, yum), and then we come back, my mum took out the small suitcase to put in costumes and shoes etc. She also took out the make up kit and left it on a bench, so that she don't have to bring it out tomorrow.  It's a trend now to do live streaming and I am really glad that we get to do some of it.  2 weeks ago we did the recording for this performance and it was streamed last week. Sometimes I don't really want to watch myself because I just see so many errors and I think I look ugly. This time I watched it, on my big TV some more because we were targeting to have more viewers. I think we did not bad though. HAHA. This post is gonna review the show, mostly about myself. I often comment my fellow classmates that I think they are sick of me commenting. And maybe they will think I always comment them but never comment myself. Feeling abit unmotivated these days, so I looked back at some old videos to get some motivation and came across this video which had a story. 我的黑料锦集。 Now that I think about it, this is actually a good memory for me though at that time I didn't think so.  At that time I was learning 5 scenes from Liang Zhu with Susan and I think I was between jobs so I was able to spend a lot of time there. We practiced very often to learn these 5 scenes quickly since our teacher won't be in Singapore for too long. Because 哭坟 is a solo scene, we didn't really practice it since Susan is there and it is better that we practice those scenes with both of us. Teacher said that a video will be recorded as a result for our hard work and he wants it like a fruit of our labour. I am totally ok with it but then I said I didn't learn crying the tomb so maybe we don't record that.  Unfortunately, my teacher said 一定要拍！没学过也要拍！不好也要拍!!! I read an old post of mine talking about the various dans in huadan department and giving them nicknames... and i realize that those nicknames are no longer relevant. So here i am giving the huadan department new names. Miss Streety Dan May Teng used to be Speedy Dan cuz she likes to be speedy. Anything also must be speedy. She will be very buey tahan if things move too slowly. Everything also must be quick.. quick to fold clothes, quick to remove make up, quick to pack up and go home. Yeap. But Miss speedy has found a new name that fits her better and that will be Streety Dan.  May has been streety from the first day, her dream is to be a street dan one day, so she can wear all her dua ban exaggerated costumes. Also, all she does at home is watching street opera on youtube. She also carries the streety vibes in her performance but that's ok cuz it's a personal style. In the world of of the huadans, what is the one temptation that is on top of the list? HAIR PIECES Well there are costumes too but costumes are too freaking ex so let's no go into that muddle of water. Recently there have been some talks around about how hard it is to getting hair pieces nowadays. Sources are scarce and the wait is long for such handicraft products. Often, it takes up to a year if you buy from non full time makers. For non Taiwanese, it's even harder because it's a pain to send money and receive the products. Well you can always ask you friends but I don't wanna bother them too much too. In the past, I somehow found it much easier to gets stuff, lol. Or maybe I am just being slack nowadays. Before I was quite actively collecting but now that my cupboards are filled up, I need to really cut down on all these. Till I found a permanent solution to storage. Very randomly, Amai talked about our blogs and how we used to write a lot and kp about the world. Well those were the days! I enjoyed blogging a lot in the past and I had a group of friends who regularly read my blog lol, May even said my blog was her breakfast routine. So coming back to it, I found my last post was in 2015. A whopping 2 years of not writing, I wonder if I can still write. Lots of stuff happened during these 2 years, people come and go, I also come and go... I wonder if it is time to come back and 重出江湖? Time to write about my life again?

We performed 黑森林 in National Museum. It was so freaking early we had to meet at 9am. It's even earlier than my working hours. As we only rehearsed for 2 days, May was very nervous. She was so afraid that she will forget her 'washing clothes' dance and her sleazy dance. It is inevitable since we didn't rehearse a lot.
