'Cuo Li Shen' and 'Si Lang Tan Mu'
The first one i watched was KunQu 'Cuo Li shen'. I quite like it as it gave me a refreshing feeling from the traditional kind of KunQu. I know what they did was probably not new to other opera kinds but at least for Kunqu, they seldom do this kind of 'look'.
Okok.. let me intro you the story. There was this young man from a rich family and his father was an official. His father, like the others at that time, wanted his son to study and become an official like him but unfortunately, his son love opera and music. He spent all his days watching opera and singing.
One day, this young man, his name is Wan Yan Shou Ma, saw this actress, Wang Jin Bang, and fell in love with her. Of course his father objected this reunion and locked up his son. Shou Ma then run away from his house with the help of a servant.
Shou Ma started to spend all his money to learn opera and singing. Finally, he found Jin Bang. Jin Bang's family accept Shou Ma to join them as an opera actor. Shou Ma and Jin Bang went back to perform for Shou Ma's father. Shou Ma's father at last accepted his son and Jin Bang after realising that they were actually the performers.
Ok la... I am not very good at telling stories but i tried my best ok!
Nice pic taken at the first scene! This was the part when Shou Ma first met Jin Bang. Jin Bang was doing the 'Xian Nv San Hua'. Jin Bang did the 'Pan Guan' first before doing this Xian Nv San Hua. She was really not bad when she did the 'Pan Guan', judge of hell. Imagine a girl doing that role! But she looked a bit too small sized in that big costume.
This was the part where Jin Bang and Shou Ma read the scripts together.
This was the scene where Shou Ma finally found Jin Bang after going through alot of hardship.
The show was not perfect, some flaws here and there but i still like it alot! :D

Si Lang Tan Mu was a part of Yang Jia Jiang. Though the story is purely about the princess stealing the order for the so that Si Lang, Yang Yan Hui, can go pass the borders to see his mother, the show is like... 3 vcds. Quite long and it is full of singing. If you can't stand the singing, then you cant watch this show. It will bore you inside out.
This is the first scene, Zuo Gong. This scene is very popular and famous. It is 40 minutes long and singing throughout. The audience must be able to appreciate the singing to watch it. The princess here is Li Wei Kang and her husband is Geng Qi Chang.
This is the Empress Dowager.Oh man... She got a good voice and she sang this whole 15 minutes piece very well! I love it so much!
This is the princess but done by another actress. Her name is Huang Xiao Ci but i prefered Li Wei Kang!
Great singing in this show but there are too little movements. It is a very very traditional Jing Ju.
