Ling Zi

-
I wanted to kp about my this taiwan trip thing but I very sian already and I qing sim liao. Aiyah... i blog liao also pek cek. So I decided to blog about other things instead. I remembered that last year I saw this special skill in opera called 'ling zi gong'. Last time I got blog about this 'qiao gong' as a special skill right.. Then 2 days ago, I rewatched the kiddy opera and saw this ling zi gong. kinda fascinating also.

The show was 'Xiao Yan', an excerpt of the part when Lv Bu first saw diao chan. He was mesmerised by DiaoChan beauty and used his lingzi to display his arrogance and teased diao chan with them too.

I think this young actress (yes, its a female sheng) did well as Lv Bu. She got the arrogant look and her ling zi gong is quite good. I know that tying that gear thing on ur head is a very painful experience. It will make you head swell and make u feel dizzy. Some even vomit after putting it on... not to mention doing tricks with the ling zi. When I saw the video, the first that came on my mind was, this girl must have had a hard time learning this skill.

Ling zi gong doesn't appear in all opera types. Only a few opera types have it and it is quite hard to get to see it too. CS said that he only saw it once 'live' in singapore. The clip I uploaded is Jinju. Jin Ju looks kinda nice. Hope to see a full jin ju show one day.

I've not seen this skill too. Ya, she must have practised hard and long. Won't the headgear become too loose.

You going Taiwan to perfom with coi?

ya, this special skill needs long hours of practice. I think the gear was tied very tightly but if the gear is too tight, the actor will feel dizzy due to lack of oxygen.

.. hais.. unfortunately, yes, i am going with COI to taiwan perform and COI dun give a damn about this event. He treated it as child's play. Till now i dun have any script and i dunno wat show we are acting. Chua doesn't see this event as priority. He dun care if we sia suay.. my god.. i am going to write a blog entry just to tell the whole world about his evil deeds.

A very crowded troupe

3 more students joined COI. That officially makes COI GZX troupe a very crowded troupe. In fact, overly crowded. There are 21 students now and including Ang, we will have 22 actresses/actors. Ang is going to have problems squeezing in all the students into 1 show. I don't think there are lots of shows which have 22 roles. Bao Hua and Zhu Ying has joined us for some time so they are not considered newbie already (MD mentioned that they are newbies in his blog). The 3 newbies I am talking about are Wanru, Si Qing and Ai Qing. Si Qing and Ai Qing are not sisters. They just happened to have 'Qing' in their names. I have not taken pictures of Siqing and Aiqing but I will try to take some and blog. I have got a few pics of Wanru but I will blog another day. As usual, Ang did her usual rounds of asking whether the newbies want to be dan or be shengs. Frankly speaking, both roles are overly crowded already. Competition is getting strong but still, we are still harmoniously getting ...

N+1

I was browsing the internet looking at opera related videos when I came across a song 'N+1' sang by Chris Lee. Man, I was surprised by the opera elements in the song! She combined hip hop and chinese opera (like Jay and Lee Hom) and the MTV is quite nice. It's like abit of hip hop dance and some chinese opera. Chris Lee even dressed up in opera 'wu dan' costume! Hee hee, but she looked a bit weird. Her actions are good but looks wise, weird. Ok, the MTV. I should learn to sing this song. Lol...
