Li Ya Xian

Finally after so long, SL is going to stage a full length liyuanxi! Isn't that exciting? For don't know how many donkey years, SL have not staged any full length show mainly because of the financial constrain.

However, there have been quite a number of ppl asking us when are we going to stage another full length show and then the chance came when Esplanade approached SL to perform for dunno what event.

We are going to put up the full length show of Li Ya Xian in the Recital studio on 11 Aug.

Since this is out first full length show after such a long break, SL is very determined to make it a good one.. even if we lose some money.

But I think we still do not have enough actors. We have enough actors for the main cast but we do not have enough ppl for the other smaller roles. Altho these roles (eg. the beggars) appear for like 1 or 2 scenes, their parts are quite hard to learn. If the beggars dun do well in the one and only scene they appear, the whole scene will flop lor. So now we are still thinking about who to pull in to help us with these roles.

Hee hee... but overall I am still very excited about this performance. And such a coincedent too. COI going to perform at Esplanade, SL also going to perform in Esplanade. BTW, our yuniang has been pushed to october le. ~

Speaking of Li Ya Xian... Quanzhou troupe just did a revamp on the show, and secondly, I'm suddenly very mad with this song "三千两金" that I'm actually learning how to sing and play the song on pipa!! But northern pipa la... no money to buy southern pipa.. heh..

hahaha... serious. I like that song too. It's a classic song of Lian Hua Luo.

not bad lor, at least now I can play the melodies of the whole song on my pipa (of course while reading at the scores), but then my techniques all not there lor... and I can't sing while playing the pipa.. heh..

Anyway, it's said that in Quanzhou's "拍胸舞" dance, this music is usually being used as the accompaniment music, as it seemed that this dance origniates from this show.

It takes lots of practice to sing and play pipa at the same time but San qian liang jin is not that hard I think as singing wise, it's one of the easiest piece to learn.

I tot the dance in the show originated from the pai xiong wu and not the other way round. I have never seen the dance before but I think they should look almost the same.
