Jay VS Lee Hom
Never expect to see Jay Chou and Lee Hom to appear in my opera blog ba.. hahah..
Many people thought that since I am learning chinese opera, I must have liked to sing those chinese oldies or huang mei diao in ktv. Most people always ask me this question when they first go to KTV with me. They will think that I prefer to sing oldies. I don't deny that I sometimes do sing some old songs but the majority of the songs I prefer to sing are chinese pop songs.
May always say that I sing weird songs.. cuz I like to RAP~
Hahah.. You didn't see wrongly lor. I like to rap. I think it's hard to associate an amateur opera actress to rapping ba.. It's like 2 very different kind of things.
Well.. I got vast tastes.. :P
Anyway, May said that she never understands my rap cuz I sound like chanting prayers. Actually rap is a very interesting form of music. You have to distort the pronounciation abit (just abit!) to make it sound smooth and you need to follow the rythm very accurately. Miss a beat and you are out of the rap!
Of course it will help you to rap if you can remember the words but I can't. I still got scripts to memorise. No time to memorise raps so normally i will pratice a bit at home then go ktv and do speed reading on the lyrics. It's really not easy lor.
May doesn't like my raps too much. YH neither. They will always be singing their hokkien pop while I sing my rap or those normal chinese pop. Whenever a werid MTV comes up, May will say,"This one confirm is miko's one. Weird song!"
You can say we are very different when it comes to KTV singing. :D
Actually my singing sucks lah.. I think I better rap lor.. at least I wont go off tune!
Yesterday, I wanted to learn the rap by Jay Chou 本草纲目. I printed out the words.. (a very long list) then I went home and tried to do it with the CD. It was very hard cuz the rap is very fast. I think it's the fastest one I have ever done. I spent quite a few hours trying to recite the whole thing smoothly but I think till now, I can only get at most 80% correct.
Lock, my friend, is already very good at this song as he always practices it during ktv sessions. I want to do it too!!!
So I recorded my 80% correct rap to listen. Sucks lor but I think that's the best I can do for a few hours' effort.
