四宝

Recently, I 苦练四宝. Haiz, I have always got the impression that sibao is very hard to master and indeed, when I first held them in my hands, I felt like I am using left hand to hold chopsticks. The pieces of bamboo kept slipping out of my hands. The most difficult technique is the vibrating technique which requires you to tense up your wrist to produce a vibrating sound on the bamboos. It's hard to explain how and it's hard to do it too.

I am going Jakarta on 30 Apr to perform with these 4 pieces of bamboos very soon. I don't know if they will suddenly slip out from my hands on stage or not. If they do then oh no!

This performance is very important to SL. It's a ASEAN arts fes or something like that. If we do well, we will be invited to other countries to perform in future. So I cannot throw face on the international stage!

Right now, I am still 苦练ing 四宝. Hopefully, I can do much better before we set off to Jakarta.

Above, a few ladies performing with si bao..

Miss Chua told me I must upgrade liao, must learn to play pipa, si bao, sing etc. -_-" Kill me....

The photo looks like from Night Feast of Han Xizai... did you catch it? It was awesome!

yep, I saw it~ It was lovely but like I commented that time, it would be even better if they performed in a small theatre because many things were too small to see from far away.

During last year's Soul Journey performance, I remember SL was offering these bamboo planks for sale outside the studio. I didn't know they are called si bao. I think they cost around $15 a set.

At that time I was thinking of buying one, just to make noise. I thought they were esay to learn and use.

Well, imagine this is just their "simple" set only... they even have an "elaborate" version of the same show which they were unable to bring to Singapore!

FR: it's not that easy lor... you must have nimble fingers to make that kind of rhythm, I supposed... for me I think I'll end up having finger cramps.. haha..

too bad we don't get to see their elaborate sets! Hopefully they will come again and do other shows like Luo Shen Fu.
