LOL, I know that many people think I am siao! Think I got nothing else better to do. Think that I am wasting time on money and opera. I have no idea what is wrong with doing opera because it beats spending all my time on clubbing, drinking, going casinos etc.
May said that her colleagues suggested that she should give up opera and save all that money to get a prada bag. Prada BAG? For real? Come on.... Prada bag is not going to give us the same satisfaction, the same passion, the same fun as opera lor.
Nothing can replace the joy opera gave me.... and of course the pain too. The frustration.. the disappointment....but despite all these, I have never given up on doing opera.
I can't believe that I am actually rolling around this circle for like... 8 years. Damn, I am so old now! I was only 20 years old when I started, now I am 28! Shucks man! And I still kinda suck.
As you people know, I have been doing many kinds of opera. Though really the main type I am doing is Gezaixi. I am not trying to be funny and stray away from Ang. I remain loyal to her as well as SL. Just that sometimes I have to help out other troupes when they really needed help. Like if I don't help, they will not be able to do the show. Normally, they won't ask me unless they really really need help.
I am not trying to gei kiang or act smart. I am not saying that I am very good and that I can do many types of operas. I am in fact struggling with my gezaixi and my liyuanxi. It never never crossed my mind to really go into other opera types. Like Susan asked me to do yueju. I told her before that I cannot do yueju. If it is lip syncing that maybe ok lah but not live singing. I can't possibly sing yueju! It's not what I am familiar with! I will make a fool of myself.
Unfortunately, she really needed me to act. Although I did kao peh abit about doing something that I not familiar with and in fact I still continue to kao peh that I cannot sing yueju, I agreed to make a fool of myself. Of course I will practice lah, to minimise my foolishness but still... I am not a yueju dan lor.. my god..
Anyway, I just wanna say that not that I want to meddle in so many opera types. Sometimes it's very difficult to reject other people. The plea in their voices... just can't say no. Haiz.. wat to do. Singapore's opera circle is so small. We don't have many choices.
