脂粉味
While browsing online, I saw a comment from one audience:
从欣赏越剧的角度来看，脂粉气的女小生与娘娘腔的男小生都是令人反感的，搜了网上的许多视频，特别是一些关于女小生的，发现不少女小生身上脂粉气太重，长得眉清目秀五官标致，可一看女人味太重，与花旦对戏时让人倒足胃口，从肯前活跃在越剧的舞台上的名角来说，茅威涛身上很少看到脂粉气。难怪是越剧第一小生。
Apparently, many people find ah gua sheng disgusting when acting with a dan. However, I think it is very difficult for amateurs like us to get rid of the so called 脂粉味. After reading up abit, I think the way to get rid of this kind of 脂粉味 is 1) start young or 2) have a male personality. For example, if I am to start learning xiao sheng, I really doubt that I can get rid of 脂粉味 because in life, I am so 'not' sheng. So probably if I want to start learning xiao sheng it will be very difficult for me.

茅威涛：我们艺校45分钟一堂课，这一堂课，现在想想你们都无法想象，就是这么坐着。
王志：坐着干吗呢？
茅威涛：就坐着，练身板。
王志：这不很简单吗？
茅威涛：但是我是女孩子不一样，你现在是不是觉得我坐着跟你一样，而且我都我觉得我一坐的时候我忘却性别的，我没有性别感，我这么一坐，所以平时我一般不会坐在那像个女孩子那样，我不会那样，我一坐就是那样的，我习惯了。而且很多女演员克服不了自己扭胯，扭臀，或者说有点脂粉气的那种东西。最后就是要能够克服这种脂粉气，完全就是在舞台上改变性别，这个是确实是有难度。
So, I wanna make a point, its not that easy to be a female sheng... LOL~
