绍兴小百花

As we all know, 绍兴小百花 is coming to Singapore in June to perform for 4 days. As everyone starts getting excited over their arrival... ok lah maybe not everyone, just me and Feng min, I gonna blog up some pictures here as an introduction to those who don't know them.

In 绍兴小百花, they have their top sheng, 吴凤花. According to reliable sources, I heard that she put on a bit of weight recently which makes her even better looking. She was too thin previously.


I find this picture very nice, though it has been photoshopped before to remove some details. It smoothens the photo and makes Wu 100% dashing! I haven't seen this show before but I will when I have time..

The first time I watched her live was some time ago and she performed as 武松. I remembered that I went with CS and he said that this 武松 looks very ge zai xi. LOL.. I told him I like! And she looks very handsome!! That was my first impression, very good voice and very handsome.

Wu is not the 清秀儒雅 type of xiaosheng, unlike Mao. Mao is definitely the 儒雅. Wu is more of 英姿飒爽 type and that is why many gezaixi fans prefer her to the other shengs. They find the other shengs more niang..




I like the costumes in the following pictures and was wondering what show it is. I took some time to find out that it's actually 越女三章.

Very familiar pose! LOL, this is the exact same pose that I did for my 18 miles send off. So now FM can see her idol also got do this pose.

Up next, there is this 2nd sheng in her troupe whom I like a lot too! She is not a Fan style xiao sheng. It was surprising that she joined Wu's troupe because Wu's troupe normally perform Fan style shows and Wu's students are all Fan style. So that makes this following xiao sheng the only Yin sheng in the troupe. (I actually not sure, maybe there are other yin shengs in this troupe... but they are not famous. lol...)

She is 张琳.


I dunno why it's very hard to find pictures of Zhang lin. Whenever I google her, the photos of another Zhang Lin, who is a olympic swimmer, will turn up and then I brows through about 20 pages, all showed the pictures of the swimmer. So I can only post these 2 pictures.

I like Zhang lin alot. I think she has a very nice and angellic voice! LOL, I like the way she sings the Yin style, not too soft, 柔中带刚! I am very excited to hear her sing live in June!!

Cannot be bias, I will blog about the dans next time... Now need to blog something else liao~

I believe it's a tactical move. Because as you can see, different styles are suitable for different categories of roles (not to even say people are more used to associating certain roles to certain styles then someone who sing every role possible). Like Yin and Fan are the direct opposite in terms of character, so that means it doubles the chance of the troupe performing a wider range of shows. Like if this particular show is not suitable for a Fan-style actress to sing, they can get Yin-style actress to sing, instead of abandoning it or "force" WFH to perform. On the other hand, look at Yu WEiping. She has been around for ages, but not much top roles (2nd top max), but why so? Other than she's not as good as other Xu-style shengs in the market technically, but Xu-style and Fan-style are a bit close in terms of character, so one can easily switch from using Xu-style actress to Fan-style actress lor

True true... On the other hand, I dun see any fan style shengs in Zhe Bai wor...

But shao xing will have less yin style show cuz their leader is fan. So other then those important performances, wfh's students will get to act those roles which were designed for Wfh, then zhang lin wont get to act those shows...

The thing about Zhe Bai is they always break tradition one. Roles like Liang Shanbo and Zhang Sheng are initially not intended for Yin-style (I feel), but they purposely revamp the entire script so that they fits into Yin-style.

But I don't think they don't have any Fan-style shengs. It's just they're not that prominent since Mao (and her pet whom I am very reluctant to even mention her name) performed as lead in almost every of their damn show. But in the past, there is still a good mix of Fan and Yin shows for Zhe Bai

But we really have to give it to Mao.. She really does the revamped roles well and all were very well-recieved! Mao dominates most of the shows is quite a natural thing cuz her appearance in the show affects the tickets sales. Just like this time Shao Bai come, I think the third day sales will be the worst among all 4 days. People don't know Zhang lin.

Even I myself if I can afford to see only 1 show and I have to choose between Mao and her student, I will choose mao lor..

LOL, I know which pet you are refering to but her pet did some pretty good shows too... Anyway, I think Mao is going to step down soon ba.. Got a feeling she is going to pass the baton liao.. to who I dunno~

I like her chun qin zhuan lor~ I think she did well in it and that show was never acted by mao before.

3 more students joined COI. That officially makes COI GZX troupe a very crowded troupe. In fact, overly crowded. There are 21 students now and including Ang, we will have 22 actresses/actors. Ang is going to have problems squeezing in all the students into 1 show. I don't think there are lots of shows which have 22 roles. Bao Hua and Zhu Ying has joined us for some time so they are not considered newbie already (MD mentioned that they are newbies in his blog). The 3 newbies I am talking about are Wanru, Si Qing and Ai Qing. Si Qing and Ai Qing are not sisters. They just happened to have 'Qing' in their names. I have not taken pictures of Siqing and Aiqing but I will try to take some and blog. I have got a few pics of Wanru but I will blog another day. As usual, Ang did her usual rounds of asking whether the newbies want to be dan or be shengs. Frankly speaking, both roles are overly crowded already. Holland Rd Performance

Yesterday we had a performance at Holland Road Blk 2. I was doing the excerpt 'Broken Bridge' of Madam white snake and the others were doing Tang Bo Hu. I couldn't find a Xu Xian (YH dun like this role) so I got no choice but to ask Naiba for help. Heng he was free that day to help us. Kanglong found a very nice spot to take photos and everyone took photos at that spot.... I think this spot is nice too with the pillar behind and the flowers and the white background... Me and Naiba... Hmm, too bad his face kana hidden in shadow lor. Susan as green snake. I didn't realise that she was wearing the costume wrongly lor.. haiz, too late to inform her liao... I like to act with Naiba cuz I don't look fat with him. I stomach pain... need to go toilet... :P Pain until cannot walk le.... sob sob... Cannot find toilet, I very sad.... I believe the toilet is there..... Cannot find toilet, I think I better take a break here... Believe me, I know where the toilet is.... Green sn...

I was browsing the internet looking at opera related videos when I came across a song 'N+1' sang by Chris Lee. Man, I was surprised by the opera elements in the song! She combined hip hop and chinese opera (like Jay and Lee Hom) and the MTV is quite nice. It's like abit of hip hop dance and some chinese opera. Chris Lee even dressed up in opera 'wu dan' costume! Hee hee, but she looked a bit weird. Her actions are good but looks wise, weird. Ok, the MTV. I should learn to sing this song. Lol...
