Performing for other troupes
Last sunday, we had a performance singing for a 90 yrs old monk, next tuesday, we are going to sing for Nan An Hui Guan. I think it's their anniversary or something. Since last week, i have been learning the 2 songs that I will be singing on next tuesday. Fortunately, it is a group singing again. hee hee.....
Recently, i have been forced to memorise song lyrics and tunes in short notice. It was quite tough considering that those tunes are quite difficult to remember for Nanyin. Mei-E simply took away the scores and demand that i sing the song myself on the 2nd practice. I was like.. oh no... I can't do it but i eventually got through it with hints from Mei-E when i forgot something.
I used to be afraid to stand on stage even if it's a group singing. It just makes me nervous. Now, i think i have more or less reduce my stage fear. I am no long so nervous to sing in group but my heart will still beat very fast when i sing alone.
This coming Sunday, i have another performance with Feng CS. It's his hainan show again and i am going to be his little shu tong. No lines, no singing. Just walk around. Kinda fun. CS told me that since the first time i helped him to do the hainan show, alot of people from hainan troupe ask him about me and wanted to pull me into their troupe. Unfortunately, i am not interested to learn hainanese opera. I don't even understand or speak it.
Last last saturday, i went to watch a Cantonese opera performance by some amateurs in Singapore. CS brought me to the backstage to find some friends. I saw my ex-teacher there. She is a professional cantonese opera actress from China. When she saw me, she asked me to help her out in her performance next year. I know that i will have to dance. The last time she asked me to help her dance, i didn't join in because i was not keen in dancing. This time, she told me,"don't reject me again ah."
Looks like this time i will join in their show. Uncle lim knows about and he says its not bad to help out other people. Come to think of it, it's been a long time since i helped out a cantonese troupe. :) Anyway, it's in next year August. Still far away.
