As the whole world knows, there will be this exchange program in Taiwan for the GZX performers. COI was invited to do the performance since last year but our dear prof did not inform Honghong about it. I guess he wanted to push his teochew troupe over but did not succeed, so he put this event aside and handle some other performances.
Finally, 3 mths ago, he has to give Taiwan some answer. So he told Honghong,"yah.. taiwan got this performance exchange program. Please select 6 students to go."
Well, that time was in May. There were 4 more mths to go so Honghong said ok. Prof said that he want to write the script as the taiwan organiser want a pure singaporean to perform, direct and write the script. Honghong agreed. So we started preparing for our Indo trip while we tot Prof is going to write the script. We should be able to start rehearsing when we come back from Indo.
Prof went to Indo with us but left on the second day.
After we returned from Indo, Prof said the script is not ready yet as he is really busy. No time to write. So Honghong took this GCB 7 days opera marathon and we students took part in some of the shows. The GCB performance was in July. We very worried about the Taiwan show as we were not prepared at all.
After the GCB show, Honghong called up some of the selected students to ask if they want to go for the Taiwan show. I know that YH and May will not go and yes, they rejected the offer. I didn't want to go too but when Honghong called me, I became a yes-girl. I just weakly said that I very scared I got no more time to practice. Anyway, in the end, I said ok.. if honghong think its ok. She also told me that Lin jia and Cai Bi Xia are going.
What the hell, say wat must be singaporeans to take part. Please lor, which part of LJ and CBX is made in singapore? Prof got the cheek to mix 2 teochew opera artiste in this GZX exchange program. Very good la.. why dun he ask qin zhan bao and zhang li to go???
As the script is not out, Honghong decided to go back to Taiwan on 22 July. Prof said that he can only start writing the script on 3 Aug. I think Hong is tired and fed up about this thing. She mo gan tai.. decide to go taiwan and rest.
Then WX informed us that we were to go take the ju zhao photos for the taiwan show at 7.30pm. Script not out, I dunno what photo they want to take.
Then at around 5, WX msg again tell me that prof want us to reach COI at 6.30 cuz he not free later. BLOODY HELL. He think we so damn free stay at home whole day wait for his call? We not so free lor and we not gian to go taiwan or take this bloody photo. I very angry I didnt bring anything except a small make up kit and took CAB to COI.
I was in the office, waiting for the rest of the ppl to come. I asked prof what zao xing we doing.. guess wat he said.. "bu zhi dao, wo hai mei xie ju ben.."
Yah very good.
Then I heard him telling CBX and LJ that they are to act nie xiao qian and that lin jia has to speak less and sing less cuz he dunno how to speak hokkien...
wat the hell..
We waited for a precious 30 minutes waiting for YL to come. Then prof announced that we doing modern one. Fine.
So we went on to do make up, that prof got the cheek to come tell me my make up too white. I should do just normal make up like I go market. I jit tao tu him say i dun do make up to market.
During the photo shoot, he still got the cheek to say,"You all not confirmed to go taiwan leh. Cuz the taiwan organiser want to come see a preview of ur perf first. If good then can go."
Godammit.
First of all.. no script...
Second.. no teacher
Third.. no music.
Practice wat?
He still smile at us cheekily and say that we might not be able to go.

Think I cannot afford a $500 air ticket to go myself is it. Why I have to go there xia suay myself for you? We did our best, we are hardworking but wats the use when we dun even have the god damn bloody script??!!
THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD WILL BE LUFFING AT US TO DARE TO COME PERFORM WITH THIS KIND OF STANDARD BUT WHO KNOWS THE MAN BEHIND THE SCENE SABOTAGED US!!!
After that photoshoot, we called honghong up to complain... she consoled us and told us not to worry.
Haiz... It concerns her reputation. think she is also very nervous about it.

In the end, the photos we took tat day did not appear in the website. Please lor.. such lousy photos.. taken anyhow with my home clothes. can see meh???? Waste my time and cab fare. who will compensate me. Who will compensate me for xia suaying in Taiwan.
I HAVE NO SCRIPT NOW AS ON 02 AUG 2006. I DUNNO WHAT THE HELL KIND OF ROLE I AM DOING AND I ONLY HAVE ONE MTH LEFT. I WILL HEREBY ANNOUNCE THAT EVERYONE IS INVITED TO SEE ME XIA SUAY MYSELF.

In the end, after the show, we come back to s'pore, PROF will act like he is the saviour and he is the good man and we are the one at fault cuz we suck, cuz we got no talent, cuz we can't act, cuz we can't sing. He will scold us, ridicule us in front of the whole world and make us look like clowns.

Amai: Initially, hong wanted me to do the guzhuang xiao qian. At least this show i did before.. but now I am totally lost. Hong will be back tonight. See wat she says.

I thought we are already bad for our full length show... now then i know that ur situation is worst!
We are still far from completion, but at least we have decided on the show title, decided the cast and taken proper photos.
The tw program is already fixed and confirmed... i dont think COI can back up now..
Btw, how can prof chua use non-singaporean for for the opera show ah? If its calefie, may be its ok. But leads?
And i thought YL is malaysian? Or she is just acting calefie, not doing lead role?

Please lor.. there is no way singaporean can compare with tw and china in terms of singing and movements and acting lor... So all of us can only try within our ability.
Actually, it may be not be a bad thing to take small roles in such events ~ just like ac, mai, wmy and me ~ our roles are very minimum.
Cos this exchange sort of needed us to work on things like revamping script, design'g stage, plan'g lighting, translating sub titles, finding money etc.
May be u see what hong say tonight.. but she cant be ur director right? cos she is also not singaporean?
Since he managed to let those 3 go, why not rope in qin zhan bao and zhang li? Then he and them can team up to do the modern show lor. no need me to go there throw face. I just dun understand him.
At first hong offered to help him write the script. He insisted cannot. He insisted to write the script. Aiya.. he just want to put his bloody name in the performance and when ppl know he write the script, he got face mah.
You think besides hong, who else can teach gzx in coi. no one lor. Dun expect CBX to teach. We will be glad if she got rid of her teochew accent. YL will look so odd with those 2 in terms of make up and singing style. PPL confirm will complain that we are a sub standard troupe.
I rather that all of us do small roles also. Haiz.. I know that we can never compare to taiwan and china some more we are not full time. We can at most dedicate our weekend and some weekdays evening for opera. We can only try our best.
I want to try my best but without script, there is nothing i can do. I still shake leg at home, eat steamboat.. go gym... etc.

I saw these lines from Juan's comment and I feel strongly that the person who msg Juan sounded wicked...We all know that we can't be compared to China and TW artistes for singing and skills BUT that doesn't mean that WE have no heart in our operas!
Speaking of "Xia Suay"...I think it is even more XIA SUAY to belittle your own countrymen!!!!!!!!!
BTW, the china and tw pple doing the full-length shows are professionals and stars! WE, THE KH PEOPLE, ARE AMATUERS...BUT WE HAVE GREAT PASSION TOWARDS OUR OPERA!!!

Actually I dun mind that the CBX and LJ go act in both shows. As long as I dun need to take part, I am happy. I dun care who will act in my place. It is already unfair to us that chua asked those 2 china chinese to go so it doesn't matter if he let them act both shows.
today, there will be a meeting at coi for chua and hong. See the outcome how first lor. At least now that honghong is back, we got someone to rely on, better than kping alone.
Aiyah, coi kana picak lobang i also dun care. Hong also dun care leh.. she say that hopefully the taiwanese not happy with our performance then we dun need to go. She also very pek cek the script not out.
