Super Stress
Super stressed out now.
We will be going to Iran, Tehran, on 10 Feb which is the 4th day of chinese new year. And apparently, we cannot rehearse on Chinese New Year eve, first day and second day so that means next week Wednesday onwards, we probably got no chance to rehearse our Iran show and THAT also means we gotta get most of the things done this week.
Super stressed cuz as per usual, our script is in a mess. Frankly speaking, up till now I don't know the sequence of the scenes. We always rehearse the scenes individually and skip those scenes that has less people. -_-"
For some of the scenes, we are using the Ang's version script, for some of the scenes, we are using the COI version script so basically, there are 2 types of scripts and I don't have a full set. I just learn the lines from the various pages I have.
Like I mentioned, we always rehearse those scenes with more people first because it's hard to get all the people there together. Even with more rehearsals, those scenes with lots of people, palace scene etc, are still in a mess. Bala still cannot do the dying off properly and QY is still not sure of the movements. Ang is very stressed. She is always running around during these scenes.
In this show, there are 2 parts where I have to perform the 'running away' scene alone. Till now, I haven't got the chance to rehearse these scenes properly in COI. I only practice myself at home. As this scene has got only me and I perform alone, Ang thought that maybe I can practice myself alone first but then I get jittery cuz I don't get to rehearse in COI properly with guidance.
Moreover, I am supposed to follow the EXACT movements of Cai Bi Xia throughout the whole show. As you know, Cai Bi Xia is a professional so there are some sort of difficulties here. I managed to catch hold of her one day to teach me some harder parts but the rest is up to me and the VCD le. The good thing about this is I can improve alot on movements and watersleeves.
Most of my scenes are with the professional actors, Ang, Li Shuai Min and Sunny. I seldom got scenes where I can act with YH, at least if I act with YH, we still can practice ourselves. No lor, I have to wait till those teachers are free then I can go rehearse with them. However, I am very happy that I learnt ALOT of things from Li Shuai Min. Though he is not a dan but we got many scenes together and I learnt alot of things through these rehearsals.
I think Li is not bad. He at least will come to ALL our rehearsals. Unlike some other pros, they will not come to rehearse until the last minute. Li also will take initiative to practice with me so I think our scenes are quite ok.
Sunny also a nice person, at least he not dao and he also try to come to all our rehearsals.
Another stress factor is Ang doesn't have time to practice with me. I got lots of scenes with her leh and there is this boat scene where we haven't practice much at all! Think only rehearsed twice. Very jialat.
Initially, Chua told us that we have to perform like the VCD which is a 45min show. Then I dunno since when, Chua wanted to extend the show to at least 90 minutes! My god, Ang inserted some scenes and I now got more lines, more songs, more movements to remember. I very stressed. At first, I only need to sing 2 lines and maybe speak 3 lines. Now I think I got around 5 songs and dunno how many lines. Though 5 songs are not alot, I still feel quite stressed.
The Iran show is an Arts Festival event. The audience will be all professionals from other countries. Don't think that I can anyhow do cuz they dunno about chinese opera because I believe that arts practioners will have those 6th sense. They can sense that you are lousy if you really flop the show. So I cannot flop.
Tonight got no rehearsal, I better go home practice my run away scene. My role is a VERY movements oriented role. Movements play a bigger part than singing so I have to practice alot.
