A very crowded troupe

3 more students joined COI. That officially makes COI GZX troupe a very crowded troupe. In fact, overly crowded.

There are 21 students now and including Ang, we will have 22 actresses/actors. Ang is going to have problems squeezing in all the students into 1 show. I don't think there are lots of shows which have 22 roles.

Bao Hua and Zhu Ying has joined us for some time so they are not considered newbie already (MD mentioned that they are newbies in his blog). The 3 newbies I am talking about are Wanru, Si Qing and Ai Qing. Si Qing and Ai Qing are not sisters. They just happened to have 'Qing' in their names.

I have not taken pictures of Siqing and Aiqing but I will try to take some and blog. I have got a few pics of Wanru but I will blog another day.

As usual, Ang did her usual rounds of asking whether the newbies want to be dan or be shengs. Frankly speaking, both roles are overly crowded already. Competition is getting strong but still, we are still harmoniously getting along.

Wanru opted to be a dan. She is going to a super tall dan standing at 1.65m. I think the tallest dan we ever had in COI, taller than YL. Think YL will be back soon. By then, we will have 23 actors. Wanru, the tall dan, will have no one to pair up with so we suggested that she pair up with Bala or MD. Higher chance is pair up with Bala cuz so far MD don't have 'wife' in any shows. If Wanru pair with bala, she will have to do laodan. She said she doesn't mind. Laodan don't need to have tall gudings so in a way, it's better for her.

If Wanru do lao dan, we will be having 3 laodans in the troupe, my mum, Nancy and Wanru. At first, we thought that Baohua will be a good looking lao dan but after looking at her sheng on last Saturday, we decided that she looked best as a sheng. Really... Think she will get promoted to do 3rd line sheng soon if she works hard enough.

The Dans

Miss Hardworking Dan

Miss Tan looks good as a dan though. So small and petite but she needs to work harder for the movements. She is a very hardworking student (just like my mum), very willing to learn and serious during classes. She is a teacher mah, so she knows how to behave like a proper student. Hee hee... even though she is a teacher, sometimes she also very 38 leh. My god and she can be quite crazy at times.

Miss Speedy Dan



Ah May, for the time being, will be missing in action because of her piece of face. She say she cannot put on make up for the next 6 months. Think she got no fate to do female lead la. Everytime Ang wants to let her do lead. She will have some reason for not being able to act in that show. Too bad lor. She will still come and support us though. (And she better be) Why I call her Speedy Dan? Cuz she cannot and simply CANNOT tahan to do slow actions. Hahah. She said she would rather die than do slow movements and hence, she is Speedy Dan.

Miss Manly Dan

Xin En, our younger dan, since first day at COI wanted to be a sheng. Too bad she is too short. Hahaha, the tall ones (wanru) wants to be dan while the short ones (xin en) wants to be sheng. Very luan. Anyway, Xin En is very firm about wanting to convert. She sometimes will come to me and compare our heights. She hopes that she can reach my height soon then she will convert to Sheng. Also, she sings like sheng everytime. She told me she cannot control. She was acting as a dan but when she sings, her voice becomes deep, sounding like a sheng. There was once she was acting as May's maid. I told May that she has got a very manly maid lor.

Miss Anything Dan

Qiuyue is the anything dan. Most of the times do dan but sometimes do eunuch, sometimes do lao dan, sometimes do 38. Basically, she will do any roles that she was assigned to. That's good cuz it will be less headache for Ang.

Miss Atittude Dan

Guess who? Me lah! Very obvious right? Hahaha. I am rebellious and atittude lor.

Think Madam Ang cannot stand me sometimes. I tried to be a guai student liao but very hard leh. There are so many things I buey song about. Sometimes I talk back to COI, sometimes I boycott their shows, always late for class, haiz... Madam Ang also heck care me lah, as long as I don't do anything too rebellious.... Believe me lor, I tried to be nice liao.

The Others
Zhuying looked good as both dan and shengs but she is a bit tall and she personally didn't like to do dan too much. She thinks that the wig and guding are very ma fan. Think she prefer to use a piece of black cloth than to wear a wig.

I don't know about si qing and ai qing though. Think Aiqing wants to be sheng. Siqing.. I not sure. Heard that she replied 'anything' to Ang. Hmm.. but someone told me that she would like to be dan. I haven't seen her performance yet so I can't tell which one suits her more.

The Shengs

Miss MIA Sheng

YH is the winner lor. She always MIA. The common question between Ang and Li laoshi will be,"Where is YH? She coming today?" Hahaha.. very rebellious lor. Even that time during performance. She MIA to go eat dinner and nobody knows about it. All looking for her. There was once Ang was telling the students,"This Friday is final rehearsal. All of you must come no matter what. Try to make yourselves free. Where is YH? I better tell her personally..."

Miss see-u-on-stage Sheng
YL, she MIA very long liao and heard she is coming back. She initially wanted to be dan but after an unsuccessful attempt, she will be sheng from then on. She is well-known for not coming for rehearsals. Most of the time, if you pair with her, you will see her only on stage.

Miss low-confidence Sheng
Tian is sometimes sheng, sometimes dan, sometimes lao sheng. She is good and I mean it. She sings well and her movements were not bad. Unfortunately, she lack of confidence. Always say things like,"I can't make it! This song so hard to sing!" Haiz, she sings well lor. If she can't sing, then who can?

Mr 99th line Blind Sheng
MD always say that he is 99th line. He told me if BH and ZY are going to shengs, then he will be 101st line. Hahaha.. Aiyah, work harder lah. As long as you work hard enough, you can make it lor. And pleaase go get contact lens lah. Else you will be forever a blind sheng.

Mr bo-chup Laosheng

Bala. Super bo-chup. Sometimes Chua tells him off he also heck. He will just do what he wants and what he thinks is right. We always tell him to rehearse properly so that we don't need to get stuck at that scene but he will tell us that rehearsals only need to use 60% of his power. Haiz.. Tell him so many times also no use.

Miss Good-looking Laosheng

Everyone agrees that Da Li Qin looked good as laosheng. I have heard of it so many times le wor. Even Naiba also likes her laosheng very much. Most of the times, audience will comment that they like her looks. So good right..

I am giving these titles just for a little laugh hor, don't have to get too affected by it ok. Think I will need to take some photos of my troupe members and blog. Else you all also don't know who is who. We have got so many people now. Must re-intro all of them. Ok, will do that when I free.
