Yesterday, we performed the above show at Tian Hock Keng Temple which is just behind COI. I was quite stressed over the show because I didn't rehearse enough and I don't even remember my lines very well. As 梨园戏 has its own preset actions, I have to remember all the actions very well if not I will miss a beat and be slower than the other actresses.
In the end, I still made some blunders. Uncle lim will forgive me one... right? :P

The first scene we did was 睇灯. I still remember that I converted this scene some year back int Gezaixi. It was a disaster because when we were on stage, the CD jammed! What the hell lor. Then we all kana stuck there so paiseh!
Our musicians that night. They didn't play the opera part for us tho cuz alot of students are having exams so we don't have enough musicians. They did some other musical pieces.
Our 当家小生, Uncle Lin. He said that he wanna step down from 当家小生 if someone can replace him but I think difficult to replace him la. LOL, he likes this photo too.

Haha, I remember I did this fan part in gezaixi also. Actually this is a good show. I should try to do the gezaixi version again. But I got to find 2 clowns... No.. 3 clowns...

They both did quite well that day. Huang Hui is acting this scene for the first time. So am I. We were both very stress...
After this, we did the 《留伞》. I am more familiar with this scene because I have done it twice before. But this time we are acting a longer version so there are some lines and a song which I didn't sing previously.

We had a lot of audience yesterday. Biyu jie told me that we always have a lot of audience when we were acting opera. The audience becomes lesser when we were doing pure nanyin performance. So apparently, Liyuanxi is still quite popular.

Lizuan commented that I was walking like a robot. My mum commented that I was walking like a barbie doll on batteries. It is very tiring for my lower calves to walk like that actually. I often feel my lower legs were very tired after practicing Di Deng.
To those not familiar with liyuanxi, they probably will find this walking style very weird but this is actually their style. Liyuanxi does very small movements and walk with even smaller steps. That is because liyuanxi originally performs on very small stage, the size of 3 doors put together. Hence, the movments have to be very very small. Here is a clip of a classical liyuan opera.
Lizuan also said that she like this kind of hairstyle but unfortunately, COI doesn't do it. Or I should say Ang doesn't like this kind of hairstyle. She tot we look old with it. I think it depends on how you do it ba... I think both hairstyles are nice. This saturday, I got a 4bao performance. Gotta wake up super early lor to go there do make up and help the others with their hair. Luckily that day only got like 5 or 6 girls... The rest all guys..
