Me, Myself & Opera

I simply don't understand why COI just cannot properly rehearse a show? Is it THAT difficult? Since they think that this Iran show is so bloody important then why is the preparation so badly done? COI just sucks at organising things. To think they are named Chinese Opera Institute of Singapore and yet they are so disorganised. Before anything should start, a well organised troupe should start off with a complete script. That is the most most initial stage. The script is very important because it is the soul of the show, the bones. BUT! COI didn't prepare the script at all and we were all supposed to follow the 45min VCD. Then 1 or 2 weeks ago, they decided that they should extend the show to 90 minutes. I mean if you should know right from the beginning how long the show should be and not start to add in scenes after everyone started rehearsing. That is so crap. Before the rehearsal of a show, the people in charge should decide who to do what role right? That is the most basic....

XJ always the first one to be excited to see photos when I mentioned that I got photos to show. hee hee.. Good, at least I got an enthu reader :) The photo shoot's photos should be used for poster making but apparently our show is coming very near and I don't see the point why we are making the poster so late.. haiz. weird. Yes de, I know I never wear necklace again. Well, actually I brought the necklace but as we got no time to prepare so much. The photo shoot was at 11am, I reached at 9.45am to do make up. When I was doing my guan, prof came in to announce that we have 5 minutes left to prepare. QY was still doing her hair and Bala was fixing his head gear. No one was there to help me wear costume and this costume very mah fan to wear alone. So I was still doing wearing costume when Chua started to take photos of WZ first. In the end I very sian so I can't be bothered to wear necklace lah. Aiyah, no need necklace also very pretty liao.. hahah, joking lah, dun vomit can?! ...

Super stressed out now. We will be going to Iran, Tehran, on 10 Feb which is the 4th day of chinese new year. And apparently, we cannot rehearse on Chinese New Year eve, first day and second day so that means next week Wednesday onwards, we probably got no chance to rehearse our Iran show and THAT also means we gotta get most of the things done this week. Super stressed cuz as per usual, our script is in a mess. Frankly speaking, up till now I don't know the sequence of the scenes. We always rehearse the scenes individually and skip those scenes that has less people. -_-" For some of the scenes, we are using the Ang's version script, for some of the scenes, we are using the COI version script so basically, there are 2 types of scripts and I don't have a full set. I just learn the lines from the various pages I have. Like I mentioned, we always rehearse those scenes with more people first because it's hard to get all the people there together. Even with more rehears...

At the performance in Nafa, SL got 2 professionals to do our make up and hair. So goooood... no need to do our own make up. Just sit there and let them help me draw. :) Nice make up and hairdo hor? I think they did a good job wor. Susan.. This di di is too young for you la.. My god.. hee hee Another photo by the mirror. Recently we all like to take photos with mirrors. dunno why. The hairstyle and costumes were designed specially for rojak. The design incoporated some modern feel to the traditional Han style designs. Everyone getting ready for the rehearsal. And I took a video during the rehearsal. The piece is a modern Nanyin which fused piano and violin with the traditional Nanyin instruments. The background music was done using MIDI. Think this type of New Nanyin is very popular among the younger people as feedbacks were good. Till now, we have already got quite a collection of such new nanyin so I think we can cut an album soon. We are now attacking the opera shops in Guangzhou. Look at all thes headgears! All kinds of head gears can be found here. I saw a butterfly one very nice oh... I bought 2 pairs of shoes. Tian also bought a pair~ I love the white shoes lor and tian likes them too but don't have her size. So she bought blue instead. I think the blue one is nice too. Close up of the pair of white shoes.. Awww.. so pretty! I bought this pair of 2 inches high shoes for Qiuyue. She has been helping me make and alter costumes etc so I must get her something nice. This pair of shoes very nice hor? Many people like them too. I even bought this pair of huan zhu ge ge shoes! For what you might ask. For fun lor. Cuz I like lor. Cuz they are pretty lor. Hahaha... And why the black socks you might ask. Cuz I wear those socks inside my boots. Think my boots looks better with socks inside. After seeing all the shoes I bought, you must be wandering what else I bought... Tadah... I bought the dou dou cuz May and me...

Just received this poster from SL for our coming Nanyin performance. I think it's nicely made so I am going to advertise it here. I am going to do a small part for this performance, just playing the 'double bells' but still, I must take half day to go there for make up and hair styling. Haiz, abit sian lor and think uncle lim was rather concerned that day when I go for rehearsal. He tot that I looked tired and sad and asked me how I was. I was ok la.. just abit sian lor. Recently my rehearsals were rather packed with SL and the Iran show.. Somemore I just registered to take french classes on every Wednesday. I have to brush up my french abit else I am going to lose them all.

Well, it's been confirmed that I can go Iran le. I will be doing the role of the princess and Ang has been very eager to make me learn asap. She kept pushing me these few days to quickly pick up the role. I will try my best to learn everything asap. Everyone congratulated me that I have gotten my wish to go Iran and asked me if I am happy.. erm.. actually I am not. I think nothing can make me happy now. My performance schedule is out. A rather busy schedule for me but... haiz.. no mood la.. I just want to die. 21/1/08 - Performance for SL at NAFA 10/02/08 - 17/02/08 - Iran (Ramayana) 08/03/08 - Doctor at RP 20/04/08 - Charity show (white snake) somewhere in May - Gao Wen Ju at esplanade (SL) So basically, I have a performance every month from Jan onwards... that should be good news for me but.. haiz.. I feel like dying.
