SB Jialat

I think I sb jialat lor. I always flop my show leh. I don't know why but it just flop lor. Maybe I should retire and do something else like playing Playstation, pick up a fourth language, learn Pop dancing, swimming, cycling, shopping (which I think I do best), watch movies, design websites, touch up photos, sleep... anything but acting. It's weird that I am interested to do something that isn't really my forte. Shouldn't people be more interested to do things that are their forte? I don't know what my forte is. Nick says my forte is doing all the computer stuff but seriously, I am also not THAT good with my computer. I only know a bit here and there. Or maybe I can just work hard like everyone else, save money and travel like Lock Li. Go to places I always dream of. See things that I have never seen before in my life. If I retired and sell all my opera stuff I think I can go Paris for awhile. Maybe I will meet a nice French guy and get married there and stay there ...

SL Opera Class

Yesterday was SL's first opera class. This opera class was designed for the old SL members like for example, me. Old already! Shit. Attended members included Susan, Huang Hui, Biyu, Jin Ying, Tian Feng and Faizal. The motive of the class is to upgrade the opera skills of current actors/actresses to a certain standard. Then in future we will able to guide the beginners. Think SL will be opening another opera class for beginners soon. So our first lesson yesterday included some basic stuff like legs kicking which I haven't done in a long long time. After that we had liyuan opera movements. I sort of like this part, learning the walking steps for xiao sheng. Hahaha.. He told us that we must project the characteristics of our roles with our walking style. Lim is a good teacher. Besides teaching us he also tells us the theory of why we have to walk like that and showcase us the difference between the correct and wrong positions. He also tells us several very important points to reme...

Continuing the posts of Zhang xiu qin's troupe, I told May just now during rehearsal that Zhang Xiu Qin had a gor tai on the last day of their show. She was interested to see her performance so I tod her I will blog it up here. Here it is, Zhang xiu qin singing 西北雨 And then this is the 2nd line Sheng singing While embeding the gor tai clips, I happened to come across another video of xiu qin singing. I like her suit! Especially the feathery thing. I like. LOL..

Zhang Xiu Qin 2

The second time I went to see Zhang Xiu Qin's troupe's performance was on the 2nd last day I think. We hadn't planned on going at all. It was a last minute decision. Nick finished filming early that day and he didn't intend to go see it at all. Maybe I showed him a disappointed face that he didn't want to go and then he decided to bring me there after all. LOL. This time, he stayed till the end of the show. There is a xiao sheng with Nick likes a lot. She is the daughter of Zhang Xiu Qin: And so, I took more photos of her. My mum adores her too because she is so cute! Nick likes her performance. The plot that day was a very bland one, very simple one. It wasn't as good as the previous one I went. Nonetheless, I still can look at the hair pieces and costumes etc... After the show ended, several VIPs went on stage to shake hands with the actresses and took photos with them. Nick went up too and I purposely took a photo of him shaking the hand of his favourite xi...

Nanyin Night at GCB

Image
On 18, 19 and 20 Feb, Sheng Hong Temple, commonly known as gcb by my friends, organised this Nanyin concert. Ponyo is now the Artistic Director of Sheng Hong Arts Institute and she asked if I can help her with these 3 days performances. Though I was busy, I agreed to help her. I was in charge of the subtitles those 3 days because according to her, no one else can handle the subs. It was quite a rush for me cuz I have got rehearsals on both 19 and 20 Feb. The show went on smoothly but I didn't think it will work if they performed continuously like this, in a traditional way. Singaporeans move fast and even arts have to move fast too. It can't stay the way it is 1000 years ago and expect people who are moving so fast to appreciate it. I think they should incorporate more contemporary stuff in their performance. Like what SL did. Not sure anyone of you have see SL's shows but so far, SL has performed nanyin in a more modernised way. I think that the troupe from Quanzhou are to...

Zhang Xiu Qin GZX

Erm, Zhang Xiu Qin Opera has got her own theme song! :D I went last week when finally Nick is free to bring me there. I am very lucky cuz if he bring me there, I can sit at the first row. And therefore, I can take pictures with my HP. Nothing much I wanna comment about their show. I just think that the plot is not too bad and at least I finished watching the whole show. Nick left halfway through the show cuz he got something on. Too bad for him! Nick like this above sheng very much. Though she was acting a comical role that day, she still did very well. When this sheng came out wearing this costume, Susan asked me if she is going 'lang sai', 舞狮. Hahahaha.. she does looks like she is going to do lion dance or something lor.. I might go back to watch one more show if I have time. I have my schedule full currently for the coming few days... A little busy with work and with Ang's opera show..
