Crazy Dream and Sell Water

Today introduce 2 opera clips ok. One is Crazy Dream which is 痴梦 in chinese and the other is Sell Water, 卖水. I have been grumbling that I want to learn to act Sell water but till now I didn't get the chance.

Chi Meng is actually and excerpt from 'Zhu Mai Chen'. It's about this woman called Cui Shi, who married a man called Zhu Mai Chen. At the time of marriage, Zhu was a poor man and Cui felt that she is suffering with him and decided to dump him. She forced Zhu to sign the divorce paper and kick him out of the house. Who knows, Zhu became an official and Cui was shocked. She regretted to have kicked him out of the house. She started thinking of the old times and ways to go back to Zhu. After some time, she felt tired and fell asleep. Then she had a dream. In the dream, she was presented with the Feng Guan Xia Pi. When she finally woke up, she realised that it's just a dream and she actually didn't have any chance to go back to Zhu.

In my clip, I included a few parts of the excerpt. The first part you will see is the liang xiang part. Liang Xiang is important as it contain information of what kind of character this person is. So actors have to really try to express their roles' personality through their first liang xiang.

Then it's the part where she is still ya ya about throwing zhu out of the house. She said that she even slapped Zhu before kicking him out. After that, I showed the part when she knew about zhu being an official, regretted and thought of the old times. In this part, she has to express a feeling of sweet happiness and regret.

Then came the part in the dream where she wore the feng guan xia pi and the last part is the part when she woke up..




The next show, sell water, is a show which I wanted to learn very much. Hopefully...

There is this lady who was seperated from her fiance because of her family's objection. The poor guy was actually from a rich family but something happened and he went backrupt. No choice, he had to sell water. The lady's maid, Mei xiang (i think), one day saw this guy selling water near their back garden. so, Mei wanted to bring her missy out to the garden to wait for the guy but at the same time, she scared that her missy will not go want to meet the guy for some reason so she pretend to ask her out for a walk in the garden.

When they were in the garden, Mei recited out the flowers of the various months to entertain her missy and at the same time, keep a watch out of the guy. This excerpt is purely the part when Mei brought the lady into the garden and recited the flowers of each month.

This actress, Geng Qiao yun, who acted as Mei Xiang has wonderful walking and running skills, yuan chang. She walk like she is flying! Her steps are small, fast and smooth. I was really attracted to her walking when I first saw her show, Chun Cao Chuang Tang. So far, I haven't seen anyone who can 'walk' better than her.

Notice the last part when she is walking around to see if the guy is coming, her walking is like flying.



PS/ in case you dunno what she doing at the beginning of the clip, she is actually rolling up the beads curtain for her missy to come out. The famous juan lian movement is very hard to learn. Heard that Geng, didn't do a perfect job either.
