Chen San Wu Niang

Chen San Wu Niang, the liyuanxi version is very nice. I like Liyuanxi's movements and walking style very much. They look very cute with their heads moving from left to right and walking in super small steps. It is not easy to do this though.. It requires lots of practice.

This is the video of the maid, ya chun, strolling in the garden with Wu Niang. Lots of nice movements. I will try to extract some movements out to use next time...

Then I tot I might as well upload a video of the 'liu san' part. I did this excerpt once with Susan before. That time, I just started learning Liyuanxi not long and I think I suck in the show.

In the clip below, the sheng is a female oh! That is rather rare in liyuanxi. This sheng is actually a dan. She never act sheng one and I dunno why this show she want to act Tan 3. Anyway, she did the Tan 3 very well even though she is not a trained sheng. Her namer is Zeng Jing Ping and she is the only first grade actress in the liyuan opera troupe.

The song which Tan 3 sang to Ya Chun was the 1st nanyin piece I learnt. I had a hard time learning it that time!

So nice right the little dance.

Actually Zeng Jingping's not "strictly dan", because she wasn't specifically assigned any "hang dang" when she was still a student. So ended up she learnt a bit here, a bit there, and then act all sorts of roles. Heh...

From the interview for "The Global Soul: The Buddha Project": 'I was unique because I didn't have a particular look or quality that could define the kinds of roles I should play. I learnt bits and pieces of everything and the teachers were baffled as they could not pin me down.' She only became a "full-time" dan in 1986!
